Lise Meitner and the Dawn of the Nuclear Age
Published in Hardcover by Springer Verlag (04 March, 1999)
Average review score:

Compelling, must read non-fictionPatricia Rife has made a scientific subject meaningful in the comprehensible biography: "Lise Meitner and the Dawn of the Nuclear Age." This is a well researched and an acknowledgement of a woman's contribution to peace and medical technology. Lise Meitner devoted her life to research and was denied many Nobel Peace Prize awards because of her sex. This book is for every young woman, public library, high school library or anyone interested in an outstanding book of historic subjects. Special accolades to the author, Patricia Rife, for her professional treatment of this manuscript.

Listening to Heloise: The Voice of a Twelfth-Century Woman (The New Middle Ages)
Published in Hardcover by Palgrave Macmillan (February, 2000)
Average review score:

Cutting-edge ScholarshipAnyone who has ever read Abelard's Historia calamitatum and the Letters of Abelard and Heloise will be very interested in this collection of fifteen essays on Heloise (a.d. ?1101-1163/64?), Abbess of the Paraclete. My favorite is "Authenticity Revisited" by John Marenbon, which is a breath of fresh air in "one of the longest-running controversies in medieval scholarship". Marenbon and most - but not all - of the scholars who contributed to this book believe that Heloise did indeed write the famous letters which bear her name. Two essays, by Constant J. Mews and John O. Ward and Neville Chiavaroli, examine a newly re-evaluated series of letters which may well be love letters exchanged by Abelard and Heloise before their ill-fated marriage! Most of the other essays fall into the category of literary criticism, several from a feminist perspective, but the opening essay, by historian Mary Martin McLauglin, tells us more about "Heloise the Abbess: The Expansion of the Paraclete".

Loose Chippings
Published in Hardcover by S G Phillips (June, 1969)
Average review score:

Not just for kidsAlthough I first read this bood when I was twelve or so, it stayed in my mind for years. When I recently found (purely by chance) a copy and re-read it, I enjoyed Loose Chippings as much at forty-four as I did at twelve.
The story is one of a widowed disillusioned college professor who takes it into his head to zip over to England for a fast vacation. He rents a car, drives into the country, misreads a road sign, and ends up in a small, oddly untouched village. The people a re friendly, the place beautiful, and all seems wonderful, except for that sinister, half heard conversation...
This book is just a plain good read, whatever your age!

Lost Little Bunny (Sparkle-And-Glow Books)
Published in Paperback by Cartwheel Books (February, 1995)
Average review score:

The cutest book in the world!(...)I have read this book before and it is sooooooo adorable! If you look at the glowing parts, you can find Lost little Bunny on almost every page! I got this book when I was 5. (Don't tell any one but I still read it!) When I turned 7, I did a skit on this book with my friends! It was real cute. I would surely reccomend this book to kids between the ages of 4 & 7. It is about a bunny family who can't find the baby bunny. The mom and the two other brothers go looking for him everywhere, and in the end..... Well, you'll have to read the book to find out!

Love & Dating, and Other Natural Disasters
Published in Paperback by Beacon Hill Press (November, 1994)
Average review score:

Great bookThis book isn't what you'd expect. A cartoon book of Jeremiah and gang, but as anyone who grew up in the Nazarene Church in the 1980s, we couldn't wait for Jeremiah's weekly adventures. A fun book that reminded me of the days we would read our Sunday School papers during church announcemnts to see what Jeremiah was up to that week! Doesn't have dating advice, but is a fun read!

Average review score:

Just Lovely! My 21-month-old loves the simple story and illustrations. He emulates all of the animal noises and loves the sweet pictures of Marmalade napping-- or trying to. This is a great interactive book to read with your little one. Worth the trouble of an out of print search!

Some of America's finest poetry! If you love poetry, you will love this book and it's author. I have had this book for almost 30 years now and never tire of reading it's poetry. Mrs. Wilcox's work has such a beautiful flow. Each poem instills a sense of goodness about the world around us. This book is also great for school poetry projects because just about every facet of life is portrayed.

Medieval Mothering (New Middle Ages)
Published in Library Binding by Garland Publishing (April, 1996)
Average review score:

Best book on the subject....A few years ago, i wrote a college paper on the female body/ thoughts about pregnancy in medieval times. It was a time when women were midwives and took care of medical issues... (when later, the medical field would become male-dominated.)
This book was not only the BEST book on the subject ... but really one of the only ones i could find.
